Illuminate the space with white – make your home feel brighter with fresh, white details

As we move towards summer, the appetite for light seems insatiable. White details are like a breath of fresh air and open up the space immediately. We created seven easy tips to make your home feel brighter and bigger.

1. Invite light with a white rug

A white rug is a simple way to open up the space and make it feel larger – especially if the floor under it is dark. Anno's soft and cuddly Paimen wool rug features a tactile texture and beautiful, braided details that look interesting even against a light surface.

2. Double the light with a white luminaire

A portable table lamp is like a magic wand that allows you to magically add touches of light exactly where needed. The crisp white metal shade of the Panthella Portable Metal table lamp further enhances the refreshing effect.

3. White kitchen textiles add a touch of finesse

The kitchen and dining area are easily uplifted with fresh textiles. Choose light-colored kitchen towels or spread a crisp white tablecloth on the dining table – a sophisticated detail that makes everyday meals a feast. Tekla's porcelain white kitchen towels are made of high-quality linen, giving them a refined yet laid-back look.

4. Trick the eye with white frames

Simple white frames beautifully highlight both a work of art and a mirror, and in addition, they serve as powerful brightening fixtures in the interior – like artificial glimpses of light. Menu's tall Kaschkasch floor mirror adds to the optical illusion: the mirror reflects light, making the room feel instantly bigger and lighter.

Designed by Maija Louekari, the delightful dotted pattern of the Alku cushion cover depicts small seeds from which the flowers in the floral Eläköön Elämä pattern have grown.

5. Pick and mix to create a harmonious palette

The different shades of white complement each other, creating a harmonious and bright whole without compromising on character: highlight with bright paperwhite, balance with off-white and soften with powdery hues. The Alku cushion cover, decorated with Marimekko's Alku pattern in a delicate white and linen combo, makes a soothing finishing touch to both the bedding and the sofa.

6. Choose airy designs in white

White shades combined with graceful proportions are key to an irresistibly fresh interior. Maze's white Anyplace side table is the perfect companion to both a sofa and a bed, and its soft, curved lines and delicate brass details exude relaxed elegance.
