Home sweet home just got even sweeter with Metsovaara’s new mohair blankets! These throws add a touch of Finnish flair to your living room in colorful and cozy manner.
MARJATTA METSOVAARA was one of the most important Finnish textile designers back in the 1960s. She designed both art and interior textiles and was especially known for her bold and experimental approach to patterns, colors, and materials.
Marjatta Metsovaara gained also international acclaim: she won gold at the Milan Triennale in 1960, and her jacquard fabrics have been covering many famous hotels such as the Hilton and Four Seasons, as well as numerous public buildings ranging from the Berlin Philharmonic to the White House. Not to even mention that when traveling on Belgian and Dutch railways or British Airways planes, you may have sat on seats upholstered with Metsovaara fabrics.
Finnish Design Shop has curated a collection of Marjatta Metsovaara's most beautiful patterns and designs from the 1960s, which are brought to life in fluffy, soft mohair throws.
Whether you're a fan of pretty pastels, calm color combinations or stunning shades, you're sure to find the right throw to adorn your home or keep you warm on a chilly evening.
Made in South Africa, each Metsovaara throw is produced of a combination of soft mohair yarn and wool using slow-speed power looms that give the throw a premium, almost hand-crafted aesthetic. The fabric is then brushed to give it a classic look and a fluffy feel.
The look of each throw is crowned with the signature Metsovaara fringes in different colors. The total length of the throw is 2 meters so feel free to crawl under the blanket all by yourself or with your significant other!
