The end of December is not only the festive season but also the time of the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, after which the day starts to get longer again. Finnish Design Shop has curated December’s textile favorites that hold the promise of the light slowly returning.
1. HAY: Tapis rug
HAY's bold Tapis carpet has got a new charming color: the lovely shade of red consists of red and yellow shaded yarns. Designed by Julie Richosijn, the rug is made of a durable jute and cotton blend. The mat features a non-slip backing which makes it ideal for even a slightly tougher use, such as a hallway floor or children's room.
Tapis is available in several sizes. There are also many color options, in case you've seen enough red for this winter with its festive days!

2. Matri: Moona bed cover
Update the look of the bedroom easily and quickly with Moona bedspread! The plush bedspread is double-sided, so if your bed starts looking boring, just flip the bed cover over and enjoy the fresh appearance. The bed cover is decorated with a cozy, large check pattern and filled with fluffy polyester fleece.
Matri's bedspread collection features a variety of bed covers with different patterns and colors, so there's definitely something for every bedroom! For example, the lightweight Enni bedspread is perfect for crawling under it for a nap, while the sophisticated and elegant Aava bed cover brings a touch of calmness to the bedroom, no matter if you're a maximalist or a minimalist.

5. Marimekko: Pieni Tiiliskivi oven mitten
Armi Ratia, the founder of Finnish Marimekko, designed the timelessly elegant Tiiliskivi pattern back in 1952. Over the years, the classic check pattern has been seen on different color combinations and it has decorated cushion covers, storage jars, coffee cups, and aprons as well.
Now the familiar design has been given a new look. The combination of light blue and reddish-brown is both elegant and cheeky, bringing a refreshing splash of color to the kitchen.

+1. ferm LIVING: Settle tablecloth house
And let's not forget the youngsters! Danish company ferm LIVING's quirky Settle tablecloth house is both an imaginative hiding place for wee ones - and maybe to us adults as well - and a tablecloth for the dining table. Made from recycled cotton, the fabric has a window and a door that can either be closed or rolled up and fixed with convenient strings.
And when you've had enough fun in the kitchen, it's time to move to the bedroom and play! The Settle collection includes a bed canopy that quickly transforms the bed into an adventure house, too.
