The last guest to share his gift ideas this Christmas is Danish designer Thomas Bentzen. The Lego fan is looking forward to spending the holidays with his family in their new home in Copenhagen.
Thomas Bentzen, what is your favorite Christmas memory?
“My best Christmas memory is waking up in my childhood home early on 25 December, when the house was still all quiet. I used to wear my pajamas all day and enjoy the holiday, looking at all the presents and building with my new Legos. As a grown up, I feel it is a very special moment to pick up the Christmas tree together with the kids. Then we walk home and decorate the tree. That’s when Christmas starts for us.”
Where will you be spending Christmas this year?
“I will be spending Christmas in our new apartment in Copenhagen. I cannot wait! We’ll have a very traditional and classic Christmas Eve with the family – lots of food, gifts and dancing around the Christmas tree.”
Thomas Bentzen’s top gift ideas:
1. For myself
“The Artek’s Aalto Stool 60 is a gift for myself. I already have a few Aalto stools, but they are so handy for extra guests and look fantastic when not in use. It’s unbelievable that they were designed back in 1933. The Artek stool is an icon in furniture design and a great example of Nordic design.”

2. For the Lego fan
“Legos were my favorite toy as a kid and now they are also my son’s favorites. The Lego Architecture collection is great also for a grown up who still likes to play with Legos. And while building, one can dream of the next trip to New York!”
3. For the design lover
“Super simple, solid and forever a classic. Designed by Kaj Franck in 1958, the Kartio tumbler looks like it could have been designed today. It’s understated and perfect in proportions and shape, and a nice gift for any design lover!”
4. For friends
“The beautiful Another Rug is a nice and cozy gift for friends who have moved to a new apartment. Rugs are as important as light in this northern corner of the world. They give a warm and soft feeling to any room.”

5. For the organizer
“The Restore basket by Mika Tolvanen for Muuto is the perfect gift for the one who likes to keep things in order. I am a big fan of the basket and the use of the PET material makes a lot of sense. I use them in my studio and home for everything from textile samples to Legos.”
