The latest Moomin dishware collection is called Mystical Forest. The glassware, made in Finland, is decorated with charming embossed designs featuring familiar Moomin friends peeking out amidst branches, leaves, and flowers. Explore the new items and adventure into the enchanted forest with the Moomins!
THE NEW MOOMIN GLASSWARE combine Moomin Arabia's playful patterns with the expertise of Iittala: this time, the dishes are made of glass, specifically at Iittala's glass factory in Finland!
Inspiration for the glassware's patterns comes from Tove Jansson's novel Finn Family Moomintroll. originally published in Swedish in 1948. The book's illustrations feature various plant and nature themes, from which Moomin Arabia's design team has created playful and detailed patterns for the glassware. These capture the magical atmosphere of a mystical forest – with a touch of adventure typical of the Moomins.
Made in Finland
The glassware series includes an embossed drinking glass, bowl, and plate, designed in close collaboration with the professionals at Iittala's glass factory. Both Moomin Arabia and Iittala belong to Fiskars Group.
“There was a lot of back-and-forth dialogue with Iittala’s artisans, and finally, it was truly fascinating to see the ideas come alive,” says Annika Tickle, Head of Design at Moomin Arabia.
The tumblers, bowls and plates are adorned with embossed patterns, some stylized from natural forms and textures, others depicting familiar Moomin characters. Although the glassware is made mechanically, replicating the shapes identically is extremely challenging. In fact, such complex patterns have never been produced at the Iittala factory before!

The serene atmosphere of forests
Despite their playful patterns, the glassware is quite simplistic and fits a variety of styles, complementing other Moomin dishes or adding flair to a more subdued table setting. The new glass dishes come in classic clear and soothing pine green, evoking the gentle babble of a forest stream and the scent of pine in the air.
“We wanted to design a collection that adds a little bit of Moomin magic to our daily lives. Whether you’re a fan of the Moomin-like playfulness or simply appreciate beautiful glass design, this collection is sure to delight people of all ages,” says Annika Tickle.
We most definitely agree!
