Here in the Nordics, we still have to wait quite a while for outdoor cafes and rooftop bars to open. However, Hay's new products for spring 2021 already make one think of the sunny days ahead: the new collection is all about joyful colors and exciting additions to their outdoor range. Check out our favorite new items from Hay!
HAY RECENTLY REVEALED its new products for this spring. Their new outdoor products will inevitably already evoke images of summertime, but there will also be other interesting newbies and much-awaited additions to existing product lines, such as the Pao collection, released last year, and the colorful Sip product family. The minimalist Petit Standard chair can already be found in our online store, and the rest of the new items will arrive at Finnish Design Shop later in the spring.
Stack ‘em up
The Petit Standard chair designed by Daniel Rybakken was added to our online store during the last days of last year. Despite its apparent simplicity, the geometric silhouette of the chair is the result of an eight-year-long design process: although Rybakken’s starting point was to design a stackable chair, he was not willing to compromise on the chair’s appearance for the sake of functionality. Thus, the features that make the chair stackable are also an integral part of the visual charm of the Petit Standard chair.
To the entrance hall or balcony door
Made of jute and wool, Hay’s new doormat delights with its fresh colors, high-quality feel and charmingly varied texture. The rug, made with two different colored yarns, is finished with contrasting edges at both ends of the rug. The doormat is available in several different color combinations.
New shades for PC Portable
The PC Portable table lamp, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, is introduced in three new shades: dusty red, ocean green and sky blue. What's more, each of the new versions is actually tricolor. In the red version, the shade is dark, so the light is mainly directed downwards, but the white shade of the other two new versions also reflects the light laterally to create ambient lighting in the home or outdoor spaces.
Towards the summer
The newest member of the popular Palissade collection, the Palissade chaise longue, conforms to the rhythmic design language familiar from the rest of the collection. The metal seat of the chair curves comfortable to follow the contours of the human body and provides a relaxing spot to rest and enjoy the sun. The design of the sun lounger, like the rest of the collection by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, also takes into account the fickleness of summer weather: when it rains, the gaps in the seat let the water drain out easily.
Ecological straws
Hay’s colorful Sip glass straws serve as substitutes for disposable straws for cocktails, smoothies and glasses of juice. This spring, Hay will introduce the two-tone Sip Spiral straws to complement the previous Swirl, Smooth, Dots and Cocktail versions. Like the other straws in the Sip series, Sip Spiral straws are made of durable borosilicate glass.
Ethereal opal glass
Designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, the Pao collection expands with a pendant lamp in mouth-blown opal glass as well as a table lamp made from the same material. The delightfully playful shape of the table lamp is reminiscent of a mushroom, but the inspiration behind the collection actually stems from traditional Mongolian yurts that glow invitingly on the plains at night. Both the shade and the foot are made of opal glass, so the light also glows beautifully from the base of the table lamp.
