Herbert Krenchel

Herbert Krenchel was a Danish designer, who designed the famous Krenit-bowls. Krenchel graduated as a Master of Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He was focused on materials and fiber reinforcement in his research. In the 1950’s he started working simultaneously with design and founded his own company in 1953. A year after the foundation his Krenit-bowls received the gold medal at the Milan Triennale. Krenchel believed in the balance between function and esthetics. He considered the surface on a design object important as it makes people want to reach for it.
